State of the School Community Meeting, November 1 at 6 PM

Morey Community: This is a reminder that the State of the School Community Meeting to discuss our Green rating under the DPS School Performance Framework will take place at 6 PM on Tuesday, November 1, in the Morey library and will go until 7:00 PM, with an additional 30 minute meeting to discuss our innovation plans, ending at 7:30. We will review the data, determine areas of growth, and gather general community feedback on both our current work and our innovation planning. Translation will be provided. We are super excited about our growth, and we look forward to talking with you about it in person!

Morey earns EFFECTIVE label from Denver Public Schools!

Dear Morey Middle School families,

Thank you for being a part of our school community. As we work toward the Denver Plan 2020 goal of Great Schools in Every Neighborhood, we want you to know that we hold ourselves accountable for the success of all of our students.

This week, we learned the results of our school report card – called the School Performance Framework – which is used to measure performance on our state test results and other key data. DPS uses this as one of our primary tools for measuring our school’s performance.

Now that we have our results, we are pleased to share that the hard work that our students, families and staff have been doing at Morey has shown improvements we can be proud of – and that means we are no longer being scrutinized as a school set for possible closure. We are out of the woods, so to speak, but we need to continue the gains we have made in order to remain successful and “Effective.”  Please join us in the library on Tuesday, November 1, from 6 to 7:30 PM, for the annual “State of the School” meeting to discuss Morey’s School Performance Framework grade, our current trajectory data, planned action steps, and our work toward innovation status.

We will still have our School Quality Review on Nov. 9 and 10 to help us continue to improve and better serve our students. A trained team of neutral observers – including DPS parents and school leaders – will visit our school. They will evaluate 10 key aspects of our school’s performance, such as quality teaching and strong support for all students.

The visit will include focus groups with families, and I encourage you to share your feedback about our school with the team. The review team will create a report of our strengths and challenge areas that we will use to plan ongoing improvements. If you would like to participate in a focus group, please contact our front office staff to sign up. We will share the results of this review and our plan for improvement with you in the weeks ahead.

Parent-Staff Conference Sign-Up System

Morey Community,

As you know, Morey is hosting parent-staff conferences on October 18 and on October 27, from 4 to 8 PM on both nights, and sign-up sheets are now available online for families. Please look for open spots during times that are convenient for you and your families to visit with your child’s teachers or a member of our support team (counselors, social worker, HGT coordinator). Each slot is ten minutes long. Once you have found these spots on either night, you can type your child’s name directly into that time slot. Please only put your child’s name into one slot per staff members, and be sure not to put parent names down. Lastly, please do not type over another student’s name.

If you struggle with the sign-up sheet, you can call Susan Hougas for help, at 720-424-0700. Staff names are linked to their email addresses, so if there are no slots available, please call the school to arrange another time to meet or email the staff member directly.

You can use this link to access the sign-up sheets for both nights:
