CMAS Letter to Families

April 6, 2021

Dear Morey Families:

As you may have heard, the United States Department of Education approved Colorado’s waiver for reduced CMAS testing this Spring. As a result, we have reduced the subjects that are tested at each grade level. Sixth grade students are only required to take the math test, 7th grade students are only required to take the ELA test, and 8th grade students are required to take both math and science.

We will be testing next Tuesday (4/13) through Thursday (4/15). On these three testing days, we will have a modified school schedule. Testing will start at 8:30am and students will be dismissed from school at 11:30 am. Please drop students off between 8:15 – 8:30 and pick up at 11:30 am. Lunch will still be provided by the Morey cafeteria. Below is our updated schedule for CMAS Testing:

Due to COVID cohort restrictions, and the need for teachers to proctor CMAS exams, we are unable to offer live instruction during the three days of testing. Students not participating in CMAS will complete a 3-day asynchronous project created by our teachers. Students completing the asynchronous project will have choices for both content and presentation of their learning.  Monday (4/12) and Friday (4/16) are regular hybrid learning days, and it is a B Week. There is no make-up CMAS testing this year.

On Thursday (4/8), Mr. Lunger will email all Morey students information about CMAS week. For testing students this letter will have the testing room number and the teacher proctoring the test. For the opt-out students, this letter will have directions and information on their asynchronous project. There will be (1) a video link that summarizes the project, (2) access to a Summit course code (where the project and the menu of choices can be found), and (3) information about how to access live office hours provided by Morey staff.

We appreciate your support during this time. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to Mr. Lunger at
